Meet Alex Sgro-Di Giosaffatte, a kinesiology student turned sales machine

Alex is one of the leading female forces behind GrowSumo’s sales team. Bringing a new perspective, hilarious one-liners, and a determination that inspires everyone that works with her. Before joining GrowSumo, Alex was pursuing her Kinesiology degree at the University of Toronto. After exploring various different positions and industries, she was given a chance to explore sales and is now a key member of GrowSumo’s sales development and acquisition strategy.

What made you want to start working in sales?

Transitioning into sales and software was a huge change from kinesiology. At first, it was challenging; the nuances were different, and get comfortable fast. I wanted to try something new, I had heard a lot about GrowSumo’s partnership platform and thought I could bring an interesting perspective to the team. After working with Luke Swanek, VP Sales and Cofounder, and the rest of the sales team; I quickly gained confidence in what I was doing and realized that value I was bringing to the team. 

Why GrowSumo?

GrowSumo was totally out of my element. Not only was I working on a much smaller team than I was used to, but I was tackling problems I’ve never come across before. At first, it was scary, but the team did a really great job at supporting me and bringing me up to speed. More importantly, they made a really strong effort to make me feel equal and valued.

What have you learned at GrowSumo so far?

I’ve learned so much in such a short period of time. Learning more about business, sales, and marketing was extremely important to me so working at GrowSumo has really helped amplify my learning. Being able to work in an environment as fast-paced and exciting as this has challenged me to develop fast and get comfortable adapting to change. Beyond improving my business savvy, I’ve learned to be far more confident in my work and value the impact I’m making on the team. The team really cares about hearing people’s ideas and pushing them forward and I’m really grateful for that.

What’s something exciting you’re working on?

As our team and company are growing, sales have changed a lot. Right now I’m working on improving my own funnel as well as working on closing larger companies. Our product is developing at such a rapid pace that everyone on our team is constantly trying to find new ways to keep up. It’s exciting and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Coming onto the team I didn’t know what to expect. I knew the product was powerful but didn’t realize just how revolutionary our approach and software was. We’re totally changing how companies are thinking about influencer, advocate, and partner channels. Our team is small, but you can tell how talented everyone is. We’re making a lot of changes to the things we do and the features we’re building, I can’t wait just how far we can go.
